MATRADE's Malaysian Services Exhibition 2009

In an effort to tap potential Middle East market, Malaysia Airlines Cargo Sdn Bhd (MASkargo) recently participated in the Malaysian Services Exhibition 2009 (MSE2009). Organised by the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), the three-day exhibition was held at the Dubai Airport Expo & Exhibition Centre from March 17, 2009. 

The MSE 2009 was inaugurated by Her Excellency Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi, UAE Minister of Foreign Trade and YB Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, Malaysian Minister of Trade and Industry.

In his opening speech, YB Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said, "The Middle East is already the number one export market for our construction services, accounting for 42% of the exports. Given the amazing level of growth seen in and around the Middle Eadst in recent years, we expect a great demand for Malaysian services in these countries in other sectors as well".

According to Shahari Sulaiman, MASkargo Managing Director, "MASkargo's participation in the MSE is with the objective to showcase and promote its products and services, while looking for better business opportunities to expand its network and embark on more lucrative projects. With the economic slowdown, we feel the need to be continuously present in the Middle East, where services are rapidly growing and its strategic location where businessmen from across the globe come together to meet, do business and network".

Shahari's sentiments were reflected when the MASkargo booth was inundated with queries on both charter and regular freight service.

This year's edition features the participation of more than 200 companies segregated into 13 clusters; and MASkargo, together with MISC, are the heads of the Transportation and Logistics cluster. Other clusters are construction, engineering, financial services, healthcare and hospital-related services, ICT, oil & gas, education, energy and power generation, professional services, franchising, design and art. MASkargo was represented by Rosli Md. Yasin, Senior Manager of MASkargo Corporate Affairs; Anita Kushairy, Corporate Communications Manager and personnel from the MASkargo Dubai office.
